Run for the Fallen is a collective of runners whose mission is clear and simple: To run one mile for every American service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On June 27, 2009, we'll run to raise awareness about the lives of those who fought, to activate their memories and keep their spirits alive, to support organizations that help wounded veterans and the families of those killed and to aid the healing process for those Americans whose lives have been affected by the war.
We refuse any political affiliation or agenda, but simply honor those who have fought, and those who have fallen under the American flag.
RUN A MILE: Join us for the Run for the Fallen Memorial Mile: the non-competitive mile will be followed by a memorial service and breakfast. The first 50 participants receive a free official t-shirt.
If you can't attent we are encouraging you, wherever you are, to go out and run/walk one mile for a fallen service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Golf Links Sports Complex is located on the NW corner of Golf Link Rd and Craycroft Rd. Enter the park from Craycroft, follow the signs and meet us at Ramada #2. Click here for directions.
It's a FREE event and you don't have to register, just show up and participate.
Tucson Community Cares is an organization established by the Air Force Association (AFA) Chapter 105, comprised of the AFA members, as a cooperative community effort with Davis-Monthan 50 (DM-50) and the Tucson Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee (MAC) to channel community support to Davis-Monthan Airmen with an emphasis on their families.
The goal of the Tucson Community Cares is to be a facilitator between Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMAFB) and the community at large in Tucson, Arizona, to assist in telling the Air Force story and facilitate community support by directing donated support towards Airmen and families at DMAFB and share success stories with the community of the impact their donations have on the Airmen and or their families. Through this relationship the committee will accept community support by both in-kind donations and monetary donations, and work with base officials, primarily through the Airman & Family Readiness Center to distribute all support to the total population at DMAFB. Support will be used to provide morale and welfare, support, stress relief, education and family assistance to the families of Airmen, deployed Airmen or Airmen on remote tours, as well as to spouses of deployed civil service and non-appropriated employees.

The 2008 national "Run for the Fallen" kicked off on Flag Day, June 14, at Fort Irwin, CA, and covered over more than 4,000 miles and 13 states, before finishing at Arlington National Cemetery on August 24. Runners marked every mile of their cross-country journey with an American flag and personalized sign card in honor of every fallen service member. The dedication markers created a memorial trail across the US, connecting cities and towns from coast to coast.
